The Happiest Songs Ever
Here they are! Eighteen of the greatest songs about whales ever! No! These are songs about being happy! That’s right, these are some of the happiest songs in the whole world!
Happy Happy Joy Joy
By Stinky Wizzleteats
The song that made it cool to be happy. Before this song debuted on The Ren and Stimpy Show in the early ’90s, people by and large were reluctant to smile and show their happiness. But then Stimpy strapped that Happy Helmet on Ren’s head, and I don’t know, man. Something happened. The world changed. Suddenly it seemed archaic to be down in the dumps. Happy became the new normal. What a glorious time to be alive!
By The Beat Farmers
This novelty song represents something we should all strive for. No matter what, don’t let anything get you down. Where ever fortune’s wheel lands for you, find the good in it. Maintain a sense of equilibrium and happiness, even if your dog Spot gets hit by a car. If you can, then yours is the Earth and all that is in it, and what’s more, you’ll be a man, my son (to quote Rudyard Kipling).
By Dale Evans and Roy Rogers
A song of fond farewell. It was great seeing you. Let’s do it again soon, but until then, may you be at ease in all your travels. I look forward to our next meeting, friend. This song was used during the end credits of Roy Rogers radio show in the 1940s and his television show in the 1950s.
Happy Days Theme
By Norman Gimbel
Sunday Monday, happy days! So it begins – a whole week of happiness! That’s the life I want to live. Saturday, what a day, grooving all week with you! I’d love to have somebody to groove all week with, and maybe someday I will. But for now it is just a dream. And that’s what this song is about – dreaming. Dreaming of happiness, dreaming of having the perfect friends who never let you down, and maybe Pinky Tuscadaro will go out on a date with you. Or perhaps Laverne and Shirley will stop by for a visit, or maybe even a fast-talking alien from the planet Ork will freeze you. But even if you are feeling blue, you can always count on Al to lighten the mood with the perfect malted milkshake made just the way you like it. Yeah. Those would be happy days indeed, and if you don’t like that you can sit on it, Bucko.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Kind of a depressing song about happiness, but we all find happiness in our way. For the members of Garbage, that would be in the rain.
Happy Go Lucky Me
By Paul Evans
Ah yes, the archetypal Fool. He knows that everything will work out. He doesn’t have a dime now, but through maintaining an attitude of abundance, he knows that he will be taken care of and all his needs will be met. The Fool fears not the journey. Even when he can’t see his feet, he is sure of his steps.
Don’t You Just Know It
By Huey “Piano” Smith
This is not a song about being happy, per se, but dang if it ain’t one of the happiest songs ever! Maybe it’s all the laughter in it. How can you be unhappy with all the laughter in this song? It just makes you feel good, you know?
By The Who
Just be who you are. That was Happy Jack’s attitude about life, and nobody stopped him from being happy. We should take a lesson from “Happy Jack.” Don’t let anybody stop you from being happy.
Joy to the World
By Three Dog Night
Not just joy to the human incarnates in the world, but to all the creatures of the world, even the fishes in the deep blue sea. May all beings have joy in their hearts, as well as peace. Shanti shanti shanti.
Happy to be Stuck With You
By Huey Lewis and the News
Ah… that’s so nice. He’s stuck with her, insinuating that there is no way he can get rid of her even if she does drive him crazy, but he’s okay with that. No, he’s more than okay with that. He’s happy about it. There’s nothing dysfunctional about that at all.
By Simon and Garfunkel
You say “Happy” I say “Groovy.” You say “Potato” I say “Po-tah-to.” Potato, Po-tah-to, Happy, Groovy… whatever. You get the idea.
By James Baskett
My oh my what a wonderful day! Like a hypodermic needle filled with Sugar Fun Dip stabbed right into your heart, this song leaves no room for ambiguity. It’s about being happy, and when you listen to it, you will be happy! Resistance is futile! …it’s the truth. It’s actual. Everything is satisfactual. Yes it is. It really, really is. Surrender to the joy and sing along with this classic Disney song from Song of the South.
So Happy Together
By The Turtles
I can’t see me loving nobody else but you for all my life… Bliss. Joy. Ecstatic revelations. Soul mates have found each other here in the earthly realm. This is the song of a perfect relationship. Imagine me and you. I do. I think about you day and night. It’s only right to think about the one you love and hold her tight… I’m not just quoting a song here. This is how I feel right now. About you. Seriously. So happy together…
Happy Days Are Here Again
By Milton Ager and Jack Yellen
It’s 1929 and prohibition is over! Happy days are here again! Let’s drink! Oh yeah, and vote for FDR.
Shiny Happy People
The title sums it up. Shiny Happy People. These people are having a good day. No worries. No problems. The sun is shining and there is no reason to fret. Life is good.
Come on Get Happy
By The Partridge Family
The family that sings together, tours in a bus together, eats together, sleeps together and bathes together stays together – happily (while their creepy manager watches). And they invite you into their weird little cult. Come on, join the family and Get Happy!
I’m a Nut
By Leroy Pullins
Again, not a song about being happy, per se, but the guy singing it is just so over the top joyful about his life it’s hard not to get a second-hand ecstatic buzz from it.
Don’t Worry Be Happy
By Bobby McFerrin
A true ode to joy. Before this catchy little song, Bobby McFerrin was unknown except for the handful of people who knew that was him doing the theme to The Cosby Show. Then in 1988 his Simple Pleasures album was released and all that changed and he became a household name. Twenty-two years later, this is still the go-to song for a quick cheer up.
