Don’t Miss Dollhouse

dollhouse 300x225Eliza Dushku stars in Joss Whedon’s latest show, Dollhouse, which begins airing on Friday (February 13, 2009) on Fox. Dollhouse is Whedon’s 4th show (not counting Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog) after Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly but hopefully it won’t be mishandled the way Fox mishandled Firefly (which was a great show and was also turned into a great movie Serenity).

According to Wikipedia:

In Dollhouse, Eliza Dushku plays a young woman called Echo, a member of a group of people known as “Actives” or “Dolls.” The Dolls have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, including memory, muscle memory, skills, and language, for different assignments. They’re then hired out for particular jobs, crimes, fantasies, and occasional good deeds. On missions, Actives are monitored internally (and remotely) by Handlers. In between tasks, they are mind-wiped into a child-like state and live in a futuristic dormitory/laboratory, a hidden facility nicknamed “The Dollhouse”. The story follows Echo, who begins, in her mind-wiped state, to become self-aware.

Beyond Dushku’s character, the show will also revolve around the people who run the mysterious “Dollhouse” and two other “Dolls”, Victor and Sierra, who are friendly with Echo (the names are simply letters in the phonetic alphabet). Although the Actives are ostensibly volunteers, the operation is highly illegal and under constant threat on one end from Paul Ballard, a determined federal agent who has heard a rumor about the Dolls, and an insane rogue Active on the other.

The Dollhouse looks like it’s filled with beautiful women and a few Alumni from Whedon’s other shows, including Eliza Dushku who played Faith on Buffy and Angel, and Amy Acker who played Fred on Angel. Check out all the cast members below:

dollhouse dushku Eliza Dushku – Echo

Echo is the main doll, she excels at pleasing clients because she’s able to adapt fully to, or perhaps beyond, each imprint. Echo begins to be a problem when she starts to become self-aware.

dollhouse williams Olivia Williams – Adelle Dewitt

Dewitt is the beautiful and sophisticated leader of the Dollhouse, she is both ruthless and protective in the way she runs it. She is a visionary who firmly believes that all involved benefit from the service they provide.

dollhouse penikett Tahmoh Penikett - Paul Ballard

Ballard is an FBI agent assigned to investigate the Dollhouse, which he believes is a powerful human trafficking operation.

dollhouse kranz Fran Kranz – Topher Brink

Brink is the genius programmer who is responsible for imprinting the Dolls and making sure they stay unaware of the world around them. He is fascinated by the science involved with the Dollhouse and surprisingly amoral.

dollhouse lachman Dichen Lachman – Sierra

Sierra is the newest active to join the Dollhouse. She is instinctively drawn to Echo but not as self aware.

dollhouse gjokaj Enver Gjokaj – Lubov

Lubov is a member of a Russian mob family that runs a large human trafficking ring on the FBI’s radar. It is unclear whether they have anything to do with the Dollhouse.

dollhouse lennix Harry J Lennix – Boyd Langton

Langton is Echo’s handler at the Dollhouse. The question is, “Is Langton loyal to Echo or the Dollhouse?”

dollhouse acker Amy Acker – Dr. Claire Saunders

Dr. Saunders monitors the health of the Dolls. Has an acid wit that she usually reserves for Topher.

dollhouse diamond Reed Diamond – Laurence Dominic

Dominic is the head of security at the Dollhouse.

dollhouse miracle Miracle Laurie – Unnamed Character

Romantic interest for Paul Ballard.
