The Best Moments From The Leprechaun Horror Film Series
It should really come as no surprise to anyone that there is a reboot planned of the up and down Leprechaun series. You see, it’s become a thing to take each and every famous and favorite horror franchise and attempt to rebuild it from the ground up. Not to mention the apparent thing called Leprechaun: Origins due sometime this year by both Lionsgate and the WWE (what? I smell Hornswoggle).
Sadly, this almost NEVER turns into anything but crap, even if the source material is pretty low on the horror totem pole to begin with. Sure, the Friday the 13th reboot/reimagining/pseudo-sequel was okay, and the Nightmare re-telling had certain decent moments… as did the otherwise horrible Halloween attempts. But overall (I’m looking at you Texas Chainsaw failures and the sure-to-be pointless and sad Evil Dead waste of time) these things never work out. All that said, someone is going ahead with the Leprechaun attempt, regardless. Good luck with that.
Speaking of luck, Monday is St. Patrick’s Day and the Leprechaun is a traditional symbol of said holiday. So, maybe we need to take a look back at the original and, for lack of a better term, far more superior (see, I told you) Leprechaun series. Sadly I’m saying this before the remake is even underway. We horror fans can easily see the light at the end of the tunnel, even if the tunnel isn’t even built yet, if you catch my drift. Anyway, there were some pretty classic scenes from the original six flicks. Check ‘em out… and happy St. Paddy’s Day!
Quote - Leprechaun: “I’ll not rest till I have me gold. Curse this well that me soul shall dwell, till I find me magic that breaks me spell.”
Leprechaun 2 (1994)
Quote - Leprechaun: “She sneezes once, she sneezes twice, she’ll be me bride when she sneezes thrice.”
Leprechaun 3 (1995)
Quote - Leprechaun: “Ahhh… lovely golden palaces completely full of riches. I’ll rip ‘em off and rob ‘em blind, those dirty sons of bitches.”
Leprechaun 4 -In Space (1996)
Quote - Leprechaun: “[pulling a pistol and imitating John Wayne] Hold it right there, pilgrim. I’m not gonna hurt ya. Naw, I’m not gonna hurt ya.”
Leprechaun: In The Hood (2000)
Quote - Leprechaun: “Death to he who sets a Leprechaun free. Steal his gold, it will corrupt your soul, you see. For many a moon the legend has grown, death toll increases, solution unknown. Beware the evil wanderer in search of his loot, lest you suffer the wrath of his golden flute. Flee while you can, the future’s not good — for no one is safe from a Lep in the Hood!”
Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood (2003)
Quote - Leprechaun: “Don’t you presume to tell me right from wrong. You compromised all you believed in once you got the gold, just like all those before you. Your kind is weak, and will always give in to your selfish yearnings.”
